SWTOR Gathering Skills List
Archaeology can be used to collect colored crystals, crystal power, and artifacts found in the game world and Fireworks Synthweavers can then leave the equipment of these articles. Fireworks are colored crystals, lightsaber handles, off-hands, lightsabers, and relics, while Synthweavers create all types of armor for Jedi and Sith. Missions involve collecting crystals and artifacts. I found that you generally get more than enough crystals around the game world and the best missions involve collecting artifacts, which tend to be more limited in supply.

Bioassay was used to collect biological compounds used by the profession Biochem. Biochem players make biological implants (that meet the "rings" slots medieval fantasy-based MMORPG), as well as fighting packs (health potions) and STIM (polishing potions). Bioanalysis can gather from the nodes of resources around the game world with cheap swtor credits, certain types of enemies killed (animal creatures for example) and the mission system. Archaeology is required for Synthweavers and fireworks, but I do not go out of my way to pick up this skill collection if you just want to make money.
In games like WoW, herbs have become quite valuable, because no one want to go out for them. Since the players will be able to send their companions everywhere and biological compounds themselves will be an object of low demand, I would stay away if you are a Biochem with swtor credits and weapons in the game. As with archeology, I do not go out of my way to use this skill to collect, unless you are a Biochem (how I would always use this skill). With the mission system and the low number of players Biochem, I do not see demand for ingredients Biochem reaching critical levels.
Consequently, splicing is more like a combo of missions and gathering that does not focus on collecting anything used for crafts, but just for things that can make loans. I would consider splicing good for if you decided to just earn credits and have no interest in crafts. When you splice you will find things like safes that lying on the floor. You can crack these open and generally you get credit and buy swtor credits. It is literally as you harvest nodes credit that breed on the ground. Rarely, you can make patterns through this process as well, which can be used by other trades to learn recipes. You can sell these to other players, and if you have a good recipe, it can be a bit of money.
